Oral interpreting is a transfer of verbal communication from the source into the target language. In doing so, the interpreter does not translate single words, but the content of the spoken text as a whole. The most often ways of oral interpreting are consecutive and simultaneous or conference interpreting. For oral interpreting, it is extremely important to have the exact dates of interpreting sessions and their duration in advance (10 to 15 days) as well as to ensure that the interpreters get all the available materials to prepare themselves.
If the oral interpreting lasts the whole day, or more days, you will need two and sometimes even more interpreters working as a team, especially in case of conference interpreting.
In consecutive and conference interpreting, the total time spent with the client will be charged, from the moment the interpreter comes to the given place untill interpreting job is over, regardless of the fact how much time he/she really effectively interpreted. Every started hour of consecutive and conference interpreting will be charged as the whole hour.
NOTE: If you ordered the services of an interpreter and in the meantime the job is cancelled for any reason, you are bound to pay us cancellation fee, because our interpreters have probably rejected other offered jobs in order to be at your disposal. The stated obligation of paying cancellation fee regards the situations in which you cancelled the interpreting within 7 working days prior to the interpreting session.
Consecutive interpreting
During the speaker’s presentation, the consecutive interpreter makes notes, and when the speaker ends (as a rule, the time intervals are arranged before), the interpreter, from his/her notes gives summary of the speaker’s presentation (5-10 minutes). Since with this kind of interpreting the time of meeting or presentation doubles, this method is logical for interpreting in up to two languages, or for smaller conferences. This method does not require any additional equipment. We offer you consecutive interpreting in Zagreb, throughout Croatia and abroad.
The price of interpreting depends on its type, duration and the interpreter’s expertise. For interpreting outside Zagreb or outside Croatia, travel, accommodation and food expenses are paid by the client.
The starting price per hour is from 200,00 kn for languages in Price group 1 (English, German, Italian).
The starting price for other languages is 300,00 kn per hour.
In case the job requires more hours, we provide a discount.
In order to get the most quality interpreting possible, it is necessary to give us the text summary or subject that will be discussed, as well as a text about the company, at least 5-7 days prior to interpreting.
Conference interpreting
Conference interpreting is the most expert type of interpreting. Interpreters with special qualifications work in pairs, taking turns. They are situated in soundproof booths, listening to the speaker through headphones and interpreting at the same time into the target language.
This type of interpreting is ideal for multilingual conferences, but requires special equipment (headphones, microphones and booths), which is ensured by the organizer, at his/her will or by our recommendation.
